Recombinant Mouse M-CSF

Macrophage colonystimulating factor, or MCSF, is a secreted cytokine which influences hemopoietic stem cells to differentiate into macrophages or other related cell types. MCSF is a key regulator of cellular proliferation, differentiation, and survival of blood monocytes, tissue macrophages and their progenitor cells. It enhances cytotoxicity, superoxide production, phagocytosis, chemotaxis, and secondary cytokine production in monocytes and macrophages.¹ It binds to the Colony stimulating factor 1 receptor. MCSF is known as one of the factors essential for osteoclast development.²

The biological activity of Mouse MCSF was determined by a cell proliferation assay using an MCSFdependent murine monocytic cell line, MNFS60 (Halenbeck, R. et al., 1989, Biotechnology 7:710 715). The expected ED₅₀ for this effect is typically 0.5 1.5 ng/ml.

The predicted molecular weight of Recombinant Mouse MCSF is Mr 26 kDa. However, the actual molecular weight of the biologically active disulfidelinked homodimeric protein as observed by migration on SDSPAGE is Mr 29 kDa.

This recombinant protein was 0.2 µm filtered and lyophilized from modified Dulbecco’s phosphate buffered saline (1X PBS) pH 7.2 – 7.4 with no calcium, magnesium, or preservatives.

This lyophilized protein is stable for six to twelve months when stored desiccated at 20°C to 70°C. After aseptic reconstitution, this protein may be stored at 2°C to 8°C for one month or at 20°C to 70°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.
