Human eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 alpha has two isoforms, alpha 1 and alpha 2. The alpha 1 isoform gene encodes a subunit of the elongation factor-1 complex which is responsible for the enzymatic delivery of aminoacyl tRNAs to the ribosome. The alpha 1 isoform is expressed in brain, placenta, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas. The other isoform (alpha 2) is expressed in brain, heart and skeletal muscle. The alpha 1 isoform is identified as an autoantigen in 66% of patients with Felty syndrome. The gene for the alpha 1 isoform has been found to have multiple copies on many chromosomes, some of which, if not all, represent different pseudogenes. The gene for the alpha 2 may be critical in the development of ovarian cancer.||Applications:|Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipiation. Other applications not tested. ||Recommended Dilutions: |Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.||Positive Antigen Control (Included): |A0001-50: Non-stimulated A431 cell lysate.||Control cells: |Non-stimulated A431, Jurkat or 3T3/A31 cell lysates||Storage and Stability: |May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. ||Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
