MPOX Emergency: Essential Tools for Action

Discover essential diagnostic tools for a quick and effective response to the MPOX emergency.

Are you ready to advance your research on MPOX?

The Mpox virus is a zoonotic disease caused by the monkeypox virus (MPOXV), which belongs to the Poxviridae family and the Orthopoxvirus genus.

It has become a significant international public health concern, particularly during recent outbreaks.

Mpox can cause enlarged lymph nodes, a painful rash, and a fever.

The MPOXV genome is large (~200 kb) and consists of linear double-stranded DNA with covalently closed hairpin structures at both the 5′ and 3′ ends, featuring inverted tandem repeats.

Viral entry primarily occurs through interactions with cell surface ligands, such as glycosaminoglycans, chondroitin sulfate, and heparan sulfate, followed by membrane fusion.
Inside the host cell, the virus replicates and produces two types of infectious particles: the intracellular mature virus (IMV) and the extracellular enveloped virus (EEV).
The EEV’s external envelope aids in evading the host's immune system and facilitates transmission within the host, while the IMV is responsible for spreading the virus between different hosts.

To ensure an accurate diagnosis of the MPOX virus, we offer a comprehensive selection of testing products.

MPOX products

  ELISA kits

ELISA is used to detect antibodies against the virus in human serum or plasma. These tests help differentiate MPOXV from other orthopoxviruses, which is crucial given the cross-reactivity among these viruses.

  PCR kits

PCR testing is considered the gold standard for diagnosing Mpox due to its high sensitivity and specificity. The preferred samples for testing include skin lesions, vesicle fluid, and crusts, which are critical for accurate detection.

 Protein/peptide

Protein/peptide-based assays have been developed to detect specific immune responses to MPOXV. These assays utilize synthetic peptides derived from MPOXV proteins to differentiate between infections and vaccinations against other orthopoxviruses.

  Primary antibodies

Primary antibodies are valuable tools for researchers studying the Mpox virus. They enable the detection and localization of the virus and its proteins in infected cells and tissues, facilitating a better understanding of the virus's biology and pathogenesis.
