Glycan arrays
Glycocalyx, which literally means "sugar shell", is an extracellular polymeric coating that surrounds many prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells and consists of glycoproteins, glycolipids, proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans. The constituents of glycocalyx play an important role in the cell signaling process, viral infections and immunity. However, detection tools for glycobiology research are currently very limited.
Glycan arrays contain carbohydrate compounds that can be screened with lectins, antibodies or cellular receptors to define carbohydrate specificity and identify ligands.
We propose glycan arrays for the screening of protein-carbohydrate interactions. These arrays will help you to:
- identify glycan binding partners in biological samples
- Identify whether the target proteins are carbohydrate-binding proteins
- Probe the binding of viruses and whole cells to glycans
- Profile the specificity of enzyme substrates (glycosyltransferases, glycosidases, etc.).
- Establish the profile of the inflammatory immune response
